STEP 1: IDENTIFYING THE PROBLEM

A collaborative approach in which I gather relevant information to develop an individualised treatment plan.

This involves not just diagnosis, but an understanding of how your symptoms developed.

STEP 2: TREATMENT PLANNING

Once I have an understanding of the underlying issues that are causing & maintaining your symptoms an individualised treatment plan is develop.

At this stage I determine which therapeutic approach will like be most effective for you.

STEP 3: INTERVENTION

Evidenced based treatments are used to treat the conditions.
The aim being symptom reduction & recovery.

Clients are taught techniques aimed at reducing symptoms & developing healthy coping strategies.
When clients respond to treatment, it is common to experience not only an alleviation of symptoms but an improvement in overall psychological wellbeing.

For example, when working with clients with depression, the aim is not only to alleviate the symptoms of depression, but to assist the individual in gaining more enjoyment in life & experiencing an increase in overall levels of happiness.

STEP 4: RECOVERY

When therapy is effective, clients can begin to experience a reduction in symptoms.

Clients are taught to identify early warning signs, triggers & behaviour modification.

STEP 5: MAINTENCE & REPLAPSE PREVENTION

Once your symptoms have remitted & the underlying causes have been resolved, treatment focuses on maintenance.

The aim at this stage is to prevent relapse.

As such, an individualised relapse prevention plan is developed prior to ceasing treatment gradually.

Angela is a Brisbane based registered psychologist & counsellor and will be located in a private and confidential room, either in her home or in her clinic. This will ensure she can focus solely on your discussion, without any interruption or possible breach of confidentiality.

Tips for choosing a good place for your Telehealth appointment

Please choose a time and place in your home where you will not be interrupted. Check your phone is turned to silent and that others in your household are aware you will be unavailable for the next 50 – 60 minutes. If you have children at home, try to ensure they are not in the same room to over-hear any sensitive discussions or emotional expression that may confuse or distress them.

Allow five to ten minutes at the end of your appointment to reflect on your session, to journal or write down your thoughts. This will help you to integrate the experience before you return to your daily life.

These tips are important to ensure that you gain maximum benefit from your consultation.

How to Get Started Getting a Psychologist Online

Getting started with a phone/online/video/telehealth counselling appointment is easy. Just follow these 3 simple steps!

      • Your Phone / Online Counselling appointments should be scheduled in the same way a traditional appointment is booked. Please call 0412 831 463 for details.
      • Prior to the appointment, payment for the session is made 24 hours in advance of the appointment via EFT. Account details will be provided directly by Angela prior to initial appointment.
      • Once an online session has been initiated, the client and therapist interact via live video for 50 minutes.
